Attorney and Law Firm Owner
After graduating from law school in 1986, Matt joined a defense law firm right here in Kentucky. He worked hard to build up his litigation and trial skills, but came to realize he wanted to be on the other side of personal injury lawsuits. He wanted to be the guy who helped people get their lives back on track after being hurt in an accident or losing someone they care about. Those are the people who could really use a strong support system — from a personal and a legal standpoint.
So, he began representing the victims of auto, motorcycle, and truck accidents while working at the defense law firm. In 1994, he decided to do that full-time and set out on his own, founding Troutman Law Office. He represented people who had been injured in car wrecks, harmed by faulty products, and lost loved ones in accidents that could have been prevented. With each family he helped, Matt grew more confident that he'd found his calling.
Personal injuries can be very hard on the people involved, and it’s never easy to see the struggles a family is going through as a result, but that’s exactly why he practices this type of law. He enjoys easing that burden in any way he can and providing some financial stability for the victims and their families. If you or a loved one needs that kind of help and service, please contact him directly at (502) 351-0566 for the level of service you deserve at this difficult time. If you prefer, you may send a message to him.
With offices in Louisville, KY and Lexington, KY, Matt can be your LOCAL ATTORNEY no matter where you live in Kentucky or Ohio. He does this because he's to meet with you in your home. Most attorneys want you to come to their office where you will likely be made to wait and go to the trouble of dressing up and traveling to their office. He comes to your home, so he's actually closer to you than the attorney who makes you come to his office.
Of course, if you do not want to meet in your home, we can meet in another location, including his car. A second way he's closer to you than the attorney located in your town is that he gives you his personal cell phone number so that you can call or text anytime. The attorney in your town will require you to call an office number and then he or she will likely not be available when you call so you will be playing phone tag. Many times Matt's clients have come to him after being represented by an attorney near them who did not communicate with them. So near but yet so very far away.
It's been decades since Matt first began practicing law. Throughout that time, he has continually worked to implement outstanding service and affordability without losing the personal touch that only a small firm can deliver. Fortunately, he's found a way to make these goals work in tandem. You see, by choosing to focus on personal service, he's kept his firm small. In doing so, he's refrained from pouring money into a lot of ritzy advertising campaigns. And by avoiding such elaborate business costs, he has kept his attorney fees reasonable. Most importantly, he's able to give his clients the kind of attention that they deserve.
As an added bonus to his clients, Matt offers free consultations and works on contingency — meaning he doesn't collect a thing unless we win. These are just a few ways he puts each client’s mind at ease.
Personal injury law:
Matt is privileged to provide free legal services to those in need who cannot afford representation. Sometimes that is simply answering questions about what to do about a property damage claim from an auto accident when the person was not injured or what to do about a bad car purchase. He also volunteers at a legal clinic called Access Justice several times a month. To contact Access Justice, go to their website and find a clinic near you.

Matt is very thankful to say that his family takes up the vast majority of his free time. Much of that time is spent at their church where they've been members for decades. Between his five children, two grandchildren, two dogs, and four cats, hardly a day goes by without a family event on the calendar.
